Gold & precious metals

Formats, specifications and what still needs confirming.

The formats below define the shape of an enquiry. Weight and format are fixed parts of the product; purity, refiner, minimum order and documentation are confirmed per order and therefore stated as unconfirmed rather than assumed.

What a quotation states

Each of these is either stated explicitly or marked as still to be confirmed. None is left to inference.

Format and weight
The physical unit and the metal it contains. A kilogram bar and an ounce bar are not interchangeable.
Fineness
The proportion of precious metal, confirmed in writing before the quotation is issued.
Refiner and provenance
Confirmed per consignment. Where it cannot be fixed in advance, the quotation says so.
Documentation
Assay, serial and transport documents stated explicitly as part of the offer.
Minimum order
Stated per format, because the practical unit differs between grain and bars.
Verification and fulfilment
How the metal and the terms are checked, and how delivery is arranged, agreed in writing.
